Karthika pournami spl jaggery rice kheer /Bellam annam/ Jaggery rice, traditionally called as Bellabuvva(in telangana). This yummy delicious sweet is made on the occasion of first harvest of the crop,by our farmers. It is very easy to make n has many health benefits in addition.
Jaggery prevents constipation by aiding digestion. It activates the digestive enzymes in our body. It activates the digestive enzymes in our body, thus helps in proper digestion of food. That's why many people prefer eating jaggery after a meal.It acts as a detox, as it helps cleanse the liver by flushing out nasty toxins from the body. Jaggery is loaded with antioxidants and minerals like zinc and selenium, which help prevent free-radicals (responsible for early ageing). It helps boost resistance against infections, hence building stronger immunity.Eating a piece of jaggery daily can help women combat PMS symptoms including mood swings, menstrual cramps and abdominal pain.Jaggery acts as a natural sweetener and provides energy over an extended period of time. Even factory-made honey has been deemed unhealthy because it gets ripped of its nutrients. That's when jaggery steps in.


Coming to the recipe, 

INGREDIENTS required: 

1. 1 n hf cup of rice (new rice will be gud) 
2. 1 n hf cup of jaggery (bellam)
3. 4 cups of water 
4. 1 tsp of Elachi /cardamom powder
5. 1 tablespoon ghee
6. Dryfruits (optional)
7. Hf cup whole milk (boiled n cooled) 

Recipe :

1. Wash n rinse rice. Cook till it becomes soft. 


                     
2.add grated jaggery n cool till it melts
3.once done add milk n stir well.
4.meanwhile fry Dryfruits in ghee.

5. Now add dry fruits along with ghee to the cooked rice.

6. Jaggery rice is ready to serve.
